Best time to visit
October through March brings the most comfortable temperatures across the highlands and coast, with cooler, dry conditions ideal for exploring Sana'a's old city and the desert interior.
Ideal trip length
10–14 days, enough time to move meaningfully between the highland capital, the Hadhramawt valley, and the remote island of Socotra without rushing any single region.

Good to know
Arabic is the official language, and even a handful of basic phrases earns tremendous warmth from locals; the tradition of qat-chewing afternoon gatherings (mafraj sessions) is a deeply social institution you may be invited to observe. Socotra, sometimes accessible via Oman, deserves its own dedicated leg of any itinerary — its endemic flora and turquoise coastline are unlike anywhere else in the Arab world.
